‘Spotlight’ the talents of neurodivergent teachers.

This months blog entry is short and sweet!

Celebrate the neurodivergent teachers in your school or college, alongside famous neurodivergent role models, such as, Greta Thunberg and Richard Branson.
— Dr A O'Dwyer

With the end of the academic year, it is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the inclusive wins your school or college have put into practice this year, and to start thinking about how as an organisation you can continue to champion inclusive culture and practice.

One way to celebrate and embed neuro inclusive culture is to acknowledge that neurodivergence is a lifelong experience, neurodivergent young people grow into neurodivergent adults. What better way to do this then to celebrate the neurodivergent teachers in your school or college, alongside famous neurodiverse role models, such as, Greta Thunberg and Richard Branson.

If the exercise is managed in a sensitive and responsible way it can aid in raising awareness, and dare I say it, in breaking down the many misconceptions surrounding the academic ability of the neurodiv.

To get you thinking I have drafted a mock-up of what a neurodiverse teacher ‘spotlight’ could look like…

Neurodivergent teacher ‘spotlight’.

I will be signing off for a month, the next blog post will be in September.

Until then, have a great summer!
